The U.S. EPA said Wednesday that 109 million gallons of biodiesel were produced in March. Biodiesel, an EPA-designated advanced biofuel that has exceeded targets under the renewable fuel standard (RFS) for two consecutive years, is reported under the biomass-based diesel category under the RFS.

The numbers show a total of more than 127 million gallons of biomass-based diesel for March, but that total also includes production of renewable diesel. With the March numbers, year-to-date biodiesel production stands at just less than 259 million gallons.
